The firmware for Fiber OWL 4 optical power meters can be upgraded FREE OF CHARGE by downloading the "FLASH" file listed below. WINDOWS 10 USERS: before attempting to update the firmware in your Fiber OWL 4 series optical power meter, contact OWL technical support at 262-473-0643 or request assistance using our Info Request form. PLEASE READ ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE UPDATING THE FIRMWARE IN YOUR FIBER OWL 4.

Firmware version 4.71 includes two updates: 1) fixes intermittent power cycling issue during length measurement; and 2) allows the user to replace the fiber length stored within the currently active Stored Link without having to re-run the Link Wizard Previous updates: Modify Link Wizard parameters after test readings have been stored without having to re-set wavelength references (with the exception of changing the cabling standard, which requires re-setting references).  Note: modifying the Link Wizard paramters does not affect the test readings themselves. Streamlined the Link Wizard setup process by clarifying the Test Date entry screen and the Length entry screen. Improved functionality concerning the storing of data points. Users may now store data starting at any number, rather than always starting at "1". Improved functionality to the Link Wizard, which makes setting a dual-wavelength certification reference more intuitive and user- friendly. Correction to an issue in version 4.55, 4.56, and 4.57 where readings may be incorrectly displayed as PASS when they may be a FAIL, in some application standards such as Ethernet and FTTH. It should be noted that stored data is accurate and correctly displayed in OWL Reporter after downloading to the PC. Link certification support for 10-Gigabit Ethernet networks. Improved functionality of the manual reference link budget method. Improved dual-wavelength measurement display. NOTE: using this "FLASH" file for Fiber OWL 4 firmware versions released prior to 4.10 will result in the meter losing its serial number and user settings. Meters before 4.10 will need to be sent to OWL for updating. Contact OWL at 262-473-0643 for more information. NOTE: starting with firmware version 4.41, the bottom row of keys on Fiber OWL 4 series optical power meters have been re-mapped.
